1) Be prepared

If you are going to start a fitness program, be prepared for the amount of time it will take. If you don’t have the time or patience to work out regularly, you may want to consider working out at a gym instead of in your home. You can also join a fitness club that offers classes in a variety of exercise types and equipment.

2) Start slow

If you are just starting a fitness program, start with small goals. For example, if you want to lose weight, you might decide to set a goal of losing one pound per week. Once you reach this goal, you can increase the goal to two pounds per week, then three, etc.

3) Don’t stop exercising

Don’t let your fitness program become stagnant. If you are working out on a regular basis, but not progressing in your fitness level, you need to find ways to improve your workouts. If you are exercising in a group, try to push yourself to go further than you think you can. If you are exercising by yourself, try a new workout routine. If you aren’t seeing results, talk to your doctor about what you can do to improve your fitness level.

4) Eat right

To get fit, you must eat right. A balanced diet is important because it gives you all the nutrients you need to keep your body healthy. If you are trying to lose weight, you should include more calories from protein, carbohydrates and fat. These foods give you energy and help you build muscle mass. If you are trying to gain muscle mass, you should focus on eating less calories and more carbohydrates.

5) Get moving

Exercise is essential for fitness. Even if you aren’t trying to get into shape, you should still get some form of exercise. Walking, swimming, jogging, bicycling and other activities will help you get the heart rate up and burn calories. When you are trying to lose weight or get into shape, you should try to do at least 30 minutes of activity each day. This can be as simple as walking or as complicated as playing tennis.

6) Get enough sleep

You should get at least seven hours of sleep every night. Your body needs rest to function properly. If you aren’t getting enough sleep, you may feel tired throughout the day. You may also be more likely to make poor decisions while you are tired.

7) Drink water

Drinking water helps you stay hydrated. It also helps you flush toxins from your system and keeps your skin healthy. To stay hydrated, you should drink eight to ten 8 ounce glasses of water every day.

8) Stay active

You can’t get fit without exercising. If you are just starting a fitness plan, you may want to start with an activity that you enjoy. Once you have a routine, you can add more challenging activities.

9) Listen to music

Music has been proven to improve moods and reduce stress. If you are feeling stressed, listening to music can help relax you and reduce your stress level.

10) Avoid junk food

Junk food is full of calories and low in nutritional value. It can also cause you to crave more food when you are already full. Eating junk food will only make you fatter and less healthy.
